Our school regularly gets a bad rap and is often seen by people (who don't actually know) that bad things happen here. For any of you who were lucky enough to witness "Forward to the Past" this week, you would certainly disagree. No doubt you were as astounded as I was with the quality of our first whole-school production. It was so pleasing to see our beautiful children working in harmony with their peers and their teachers, overcoming their fears and working together for the good of all. It made me cry!
Of course, these things do not just happen and there are many people to thank. I would certainly like to acknowledge parents and carers for their support in having children dressed and ready on consecutive nights. I hope the children's excitement and tiredness didn't lead to bed-time craziness! The staff (teachers, support staff, office ladies and volunteers) deserves thanks for their flexibility and cooperation, again working together for the benefit of all. Congratulations to super producers/directors/choreographers/conductors Amanda Drinkwater and Felicity Murphy for their vision and leadership. They knew we could do it.
Thanks to John Southon from J&J Southon Sound for his sound and lighting equipment and expertise. Nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to Shane Kelly and Greg Thomas for the set and prop construction, Jane Boots, Kaye Miles, Marcia Kelly and Mel Stevenson for costuming, and to colleague schools for the loan of equipment.
I look forward to 2016 when we put together something to rival "Forward to the Past".
